About Studio Cambridge

With more than 50 years' experience, we are confident of being able to offer you the highest academic standards and an interesting, enjoyable stay in England. We look forward to welcoming you to Studio Cambridge. Here are just a few of the people whom you will meet while you are with us.

Studio staff profile

Christopher Roberts - Chairman

Has been with Studio for more than 30 years. During that time the school was accredited by the British Council, authorised by Cambridge University (UCLES) to offer the CELTA examination, and became the largest language school in Cambridge.

Malcolm Mottram - Managing Director

Malcolm has managed English language schools in the UK and USA for 25 years. He says he feels most at home in Studio:

While it keeps up to date with the latest teaching methodology, Studio is and will always be a traditional institution that respects the commitment of its students and takes pride in their achievements”.

Julia Midleton - Principal (Adult Learners)

An experienced teaching professional, Julia oversees a team of dedicated teachers and teacher-trainers:

Whether our students are just beginning their study of English, or are English language teachers themselves, they deserve the best possible teaching in an environment which encourages them to learn. That is what we provide at Studio Cambridge.”

Richard Mountford - Operations Director

Richard is responsible for everything that happens to students from the moment they arrive to when they return home:

A good language school must have good teaching. But it is much more than that. Students’ security and personal wellbeing, comfortable accommodation, an active and interesting social life, and international friendships are just as important as effective teaching.”

Nicole Kennedy - Sales Director

Nicole leads a team of professionals in the Sales and Customer Services departments:

Our most important responsibility is to ensure that we do what we say we will do. Every aspect of the student’s experience at Studio should be positive, educational and enjoyable and my colleagues and I are responsible for ensuring that is the case.”

Sharon Warner - Head of Customer Services

Wherever you live while you are in Cambridge - in a local homestay or student residence - you must feel comfortable, happy and relaxed. Choosing the right accommodation for you is the responsibility of Sharon and her colleagues:

We take great care in choosing the right accommodation for our students. All homestay hosts are inspected and visited regularly and we are in constant contact with them and our students to make sure that it is an enjoyable experience for them both. A friendly and comfortable home is essential to a successful course.”

STUDIO JOBS

for the latest job vacancies at Studio Cambridge

Occasionally, we interview some of our staff members to give you an
idea of the kind of people who will look after you at Studio.

Name: Dr Philip R. Brown:
Position:Teacher on Adult Courses

Question: What motivates you in your job?

"I'm particularly happy when I see young adults improving their language skills in the process of trying to understand more about life and people (I don't mean simply British life and British people). Attempts at understanding imply an ability
to ask questions"

What do you think a student can learn from Cambridge?

"To learn more English and to practise some basic social skills should only be part of the objective. The time spent in Cambridge should also be an intellectual experience, because time spent in unfamiliar surroundings is an opportunity to ask questions about ourselves and the world in which we live. Even though the answers may be difficult and slow to come, if they come at all. I am not at all dismayed that people ask questions; what dismays me is that so few people do."

Favourite moments?

"I derive special satisfaction from witnessing a process of questioning - more so if in any way I have been instrumental in starting it"

"Next to this, I am pleased in the knowledge that my colleagues, while materially dependent on their jobs, unfailingly, and with a healthy sense of humour, put person before profit. Guileless dedication, though sometimes painful, is rare and priceless."
