Current vacancies include:

Assistant Receptionist

Temporary full-time position, from June to September. Joining our Sales & Enrolments team to help with the increased number of students during our busy summer season.

Working hours: vary between 30-45 hours per week. Working flexible weekday hours between 08:30 and 18:00 until July. During July, working Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Sunday work may include early morning starts and/or late finishes.

Duties:

  • to work as part of a 2-person reception team
  • to answer the phone and field all calls to the school reception desk, before putting clients through to the appropriate member of staff, who will deal with enquiries
  • to assist various departments with administrative tasks when requested
  • to deal with clients and students asking for information from Reception
  • to input questionnaire feedback data into a database
  • to work on some Sundays when required, assisting with transfers to and from the London airports, both at the school and/or at the airports.

Candidate requirements: We are looking for responsible and diplomatic people with administrative experience, good communication skills, comfortable telephone manner and an ability to work as part of a team. Experience of dealing with non-native speakers would also be an advantage.

Pastoral Care Manager 1
Welfare Officer

Temporary full-time post from mid-June to the end of August. Joining our Customer Services and St Michael course teams, to help with the increased number of students during our busy summer season.

Working hours: approx 45 hours per week. Flexible hours on weekdays between 08:30 and 18:00. You will be asked to share the responsibility for being “on call” to answer the School’s out-of-hours mobile phone on some weekday evenings (average of 2 evenings per week). Saturday or Sunday work may be required on occasions.

Duties:

  • to deal with student welfare and first aid issues and to maintain good lines of communication with those who need to be aware of such problems
  • to ensure that student discipline is maintained and that any action taken is coordinated between the academic, activities, residential and welfare staff, as well as the school’s senior management
  • to be “on call” on the out-of-hours phone duty rota, dealing with either student or host family issues.

Candidate requirements: We are looking for responsible and diplomatic people with counselling and administrative experience, good communication skills and an ability to work as part of a team. Some experience of dealing with non-native speakers would also be an advantage. You will need to be flexible, as you could be asked to deal with a wide range of situations.

Pastoral Care Manager 2
Residential Warden Manager

Temporary full-time post from April to the end of August. Joining our Customer Services and Operations teams, to help with the increased number of students during our busy summer season.

Working hours: approx 45 contact hours per week. Flexible hours on weekdays between 08:30 and 18:00. You will be required to be “on call” to support a team of residential wardens overseeing the running of the school residences. Saturday or Sunday work may be required on occasions.

Duties: duties will vary depending on the time of year. April to June will mainly be an administrative role assisting various departments in preparation for the summer. July and August will focus on ensuring the smooth running of staff and students living in our residential accommodation.

  • to assist in the administration of allocating students to residential rooms
  • to assist with the administration of the employment of temporary staff for the summer centres
  • to manage and oversee a team of wardens at the residences
  • to liaise with the providers of our residential accommodation to ensure that any issues or problems are resolved
  • to ensure that staff and student discipline is maintained at the residences and that any action taken is coordinated between the various departments
  • to be “on call” in the evening and at weekends to support a team of wardens and to ensure that residential issues are dealt with appropriately.

Candidate requirements: We are looking for responsible and diplomatic people with counseling and administrative experience, good communication skills and an ability to work as part of a team. Some experience of personnel management would be an advantage. You will need to be flexible, as you could be asked to deal with a wide range of situations.

Course Administrators

Temporary full-time positions, from June to August. Joining our Young Learners summer course teams.

Working hours: approx 45 hours per week. Working flexible hours between 08:00 and 19:00, 6 days a week.

Duties:

  • to oversee the smooth running over one of our summer courses
  • to manage a large team of staff, supervising our students
  • to liaise with Course Centre management, Studio School management teams, Group Leaders, agents, students and staff
  • to be on call to resolve any issues relating to the summer course

Candidate requirements: We are looking for responsible and diplomatic people with summer school experience. Should be used to working with teenagers, have good communication skills and an ability to manage a team. Candidates will require a CRB check

Activity Organisers

Temporary full-time positions, from July to August. Joining our Young Learners summer course teams.

Working hours: approx 40 hours per week. Working flexible hours between 08:30 and 22:00, Monday to Saturday.

Duties:

  • to work as part of a large team, supervising our teenage students’ activities programme (days and evenings) from Monday to Friday. Activities include cultural tours, sports and arts & crafts.
  • to supervise coach excursions to London and other cities each Saturday

Candidate requirements: We are looking for responsible and diplomatic people with experience of working with teenagers, good communication skills and an ability to work as part of a team. Experience of dealing with non-native speakers would be an advantage, as would experience of running youth groups, scouts or guides etc. Candidates will require a CRB check.

Residential Wardens

Working hours: approx 45 hours per week. Working flexible hours between 07:30 and 02:00, 6 days a week.

Duties:

  • to work as part of a large team, supervising our teenage students in residences.
  • to supervise coach excursions to London and other cities each Saturday

Candidate requirements: We are looking for responsible and diplomatic people with experience of working with teenagers, good communication skills and an ability to work as part of a team. Experience of dealing with non-native speakers would be an advantage, as would residential experience with youth groups, scouts or guides etc. Candidates will require a CRB check

 Sunday Airport Staff

Casual part-time work on 4, 5 or 6 Sundays of the summer, from June 29th to mid-August.

Working hours: Work is offered on a casual basis, usually on a Sunday, but occasionally on a Saturday. Hours may vary considerably depending on the nature of the work.

Duties:

  • to be present at the London airports on Sundays  
  • to meet and welcome new students on arrival at the airport and direct them to the appropriate coach or taxi
  • to wave off departing students and help them to check in if required
  • to attend short briefings on the forthcoming transfer details – either on Friday afternoons or Saturday mornings

Candidate requirements: We are looking for responsible, unflappable and enthusiastic people with good communication skills and experience of dealing with non-native speakers. Good knowledge of the  workings of airports would be an advantage.

Technician

This is a new position within the school, joining the Operations and Maintenance teams. Either a part-time or full-time post according to the requirements of the successful candidate. Starting with a one year renewable contract, with the intention of offering a permanent contract after a successful 12 month probationary period.

Working hours: flexible hours (depending on availability) up to a maximum of 40 hours per week, on weekdays between 07:30 and 17:00.

Duties: The duties listed below may vary depending on the interest, strengths and skills of the successful candidate

  • to maintain, service and repair electrical hardware within the school – including printers, PCs, DVD & CDs players, projectors, TVs, cassette players, fans etc
  • to help monitor the physical condition of the school for Health and Safety purposes
  • to assist in the upkeep of the school premises – including classrooms, office furniture, general DIY and the garden
  • to share responsibility for the opening of the school and being on-call in case of emergencies
  • to assist other departments in the school, such as attending evening activities, assisting with airport transfers, help with setting up the off-site summer centres etc

Candidate requirements: We are looking for a hard-working and responsible person with tested DIY skills and a sound knowledge of electrical hardware. Should enjoy physical work, both indoors and out, and have a clean driving licence.
