Assessment and monitoring for students on short, mid and long-term Intensive English Courses for adults 

Studio Cambridge recognises that students coming to study with us may have different goals in mind for their progression.  Here is a guide to what you can expect if you are studying with us on a short-term, mid-term or long-term course:

Short-term 1 - 3 weeks

  • A placement test - the tester records the main aims or needs of the student
  • Progress card provided, with placement test results, tester's notes, progress tests results and teachers' comments
  • Weekly progress test
  • Marked written work
  • Student is provided with an Academic Report at the end of their course
  • Tutorial (optional)

Mid-term 4 - 11 weeks

  • A placement test - the tester records the main aims or needs of the student
  • Progress card provided, with placement test results, tester's notes, progress tests results and teachers' comments
  • Weekly progress test
  • Marked written work
  • Needs analysis tutorial and study plan
  • 8+ weeks - Exit tutorial by tutor in which the student assesses their own progress
  • Student is provided with an Academic Report at the end of their course
  • Studio Cambridge exit test (optional)
  • TOEIC test (optional and at extra cost)
  • 6+ weeks - Cambridge or IELTS exam (optional and at extra cost)

Long-term 12+ weeks

  • A placement test - the tester records the main aims or needs of the student
  • Progress card provided, with placement test results, tester's notes, progress tests results and teachers' comments
  • Weekly progress test
  • Marked written work
  • Needs analysis tutorial and study plan
  • Tutorial and review of the study plan each month (optional)
  • Tutorial and new study plan each 12 weeks
  • Exit tutorial by tutor in which the student assesses their own progress
  • Student is provided with an Academic Report at the end of their course
  • Studio Cambridge exit test (optional)
  • TOEIC test (optional and at extra cost)
  • 6+ weeks - Cambridge or IELTS exam (optional and at extra cost)
