You can choose from the following weekly options for your afternoon classes:

  • Option Two: Special interest
  • Option Three: English for Business
  • Option Four: Academic English
  • Option Five: TOEIC Preparation
  • Option Six: Reading and writing

1. Language skills

Classes are similar to the morning programme but without the same focus on grammar and vocabulary. Instead they focus more on the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. Help with your pronunciation also plays an important role.This is the most popular option with our students, especially with short-stay students. We have classes for all levels and each day there is a focus on a different skill.

2. Special interest

This option covers a range of techniques to improve your English, based on topics of special interest.

  • Correct pronunciation
  • Creative writing

This option is only open to students with intermediate (level 4) to advanced (level 6) English .

Please note that at cetain times of the year these classes may include students aged under 16.

3. English for business

Classes are aimed at students with an interest in the world of international business. We teach the essential language used in this field as well as developing students' skills in how to be successful in business.   • Money and Banking
  • Interpreting graphs and describing trends
  • Writing business letters and reports
  • International trade
  • Management
  • Marketing and advertising
  • Chairing and participating in meetings
  • Minutes and agendas

This option is only open to students with intermediate (level 4) to advanced (level 6) English 

4. Academic English (including IELTS preparation)

This option focuses on the specialised language required in the academic world. It is also excellent preparation for examinations such as IELTS, ELAE and University of Cambridge exams.Whether or not you intend to take an exam, this option is an excellent choice if you need to develop your knowledge of formal written English.

The course includes:

  • Formal lexis and structures used in academic writingLanguage students learn English in England at Studio Cambridge
  • Describing graphs, charts and diagrams
  • Taking notes from lectures
  • Planning, organising and writing essays
  • Understanding scientific texts
  • Reading and writing under time constraints
  • Prioritising

This option is only open to students with intermediate (level 4) to advanced (level 6) English

5. TOEIC Preparation

Most students planning to take the TOEIC exam (Test of English for International Communication)choose to take this option at least once or twice during their stay. For more details please click on the "TOEIC" tab in the green menu bar above.

This afternoon option helps make students more familiar with the exam and its particular multiple choice answer format.

This option is only open to students with lower intermediate (level 3) to advanced (level 6) English

6. Reading and writing

This option is especially useful for students whose native language does not use the Roman alphabet or who need particular help in developing their reading and writing skills.

It is also a popular option for students intending to take an internationally recognised English examination, such as IELTS or the University of Cambridge exams or who wish to use their English for formal, written communication.

This option is only open to students with elementary (level 2) to intermediate (level 4) English
