St Christopher extra costs

Almost everything on the St Christopher course is included in the fees. However, there are a few extra costs that you need to be aware of.

Spending Money
Although most things are included in the course fees, we recommend that you bring around £80 (125 Euros) per week spending money. This can be used in emergencies, for buying souvenirs and extra activities such as going to the cinema with friends.

Transport
If you are living on-campus at Ridley Hall, Selwyn Gardens or Lucy Cavendish, you will not need to worry about transport to and from school.

If you are living in a homestay, you may have to make other arrangements to get to and from school. Your homestay hosts will help you find the best route and method. Two of the most popular methods are:

Bicycles
This is the favourite and most traditional way for getting around Cambridge, which has many cycle lanes to separate bikes from car traffic. We recommend that you only hire bicycles (approximately £15 per week) if you are a competent cyclist and confident about cycling on English roads.

If requested, we can help you hire a bicycle on the first Monday of your stay.

Buses
An alternative to the bike would be to use the local bus services. You can buy a 'Citi' bus pass (approximately £11 per week), which is called a 'Megarider'. These can be bought on the buses by asking the driver directly. Studio staff will also be able to help you choose the correct bus, which will take you to and from Ridley Hall or Lucy Cavendish College each day.

Extra cost activities
The St Christopher activity programme is included in your course fees and you don't have to pay for anything extra. However, on occasions students ask us to arrange different activities (such as golf, horse riding or Theatre) at extra cost.

There are also several discos each week, organised by local Cambridge clubs. Entrance is usually between £2.00 and £3.00.

Not arriving or leaving on a Sunday?
Airport transfers from the main London airports (Heathrow, Stansted & Gatwick) are included in your fees as long as you arrive and depart on a Sunday. Arrival or departure on any day other than a Sunday will mean you will have to pay extra costs for the transfer. Please contact us for details.

Not arriving at or leaving from one of London's main airports?
If you are not flying into, or leaving from, London Heathrow, London Stansted or London Gatwick, an additional charge will be made. Please contact us for details.
