Our St Helen course takes place in Hockerill Anglo-European
College, which is an international boarding school. Its staff
are experienced in caring for children of all ages and nationalities
whilst they are away from their families.
There
is space for up to 200 students to live on campus and, although
the buildings are traditional, the facilities are modern.
Boys
and girls sleep in different "houses" around the campus.
Each "house" has its own Studio wardens and all Studio
staff live on-site and help with super-vision.
Most
bedrooms are twin rooms and you share with a student of a similar
age, of the same sex and from a different country. A limited number
of rooms allow you to share with up 5 other students. You can
share a room with friends if you request this in advance.
There
are attractive and modern shared bathroom and shower facilities, usually
on each corridor – approximately 1 bathroom to every 6
students.
When
you are not in class or taking part in organised activities,
there are comfortable common rooms in each house.
Benefits of St Helen residential accommodation
All staff live at the course centre providing 24-hour
care for students.
We
keep the staff-to-student ratios high, at approximately 1:7,
and
the Studio office is never far away if you have any questions
or need help.
Laundry
Laundry is washed once a week by Hockerill College staff.
Rooms
are cleaned and beds changed every week.
Meals
Hockerill College cafeteria serves food to foreign students aged
11-18 all year round. The quality is very good, with a wide choice
of hot and cold food. There is a vegetarian option and non-pork
option for every meal.
