Cambridge in Springtime

8th March 2018

Home to one of the UK’s most prestigious universities, Cambridge is a city full of exciting things to do for people of all ages. Despite its medieval character, our modern town hosts cultural events throughout the year that will make you think, laugh and smile. We thought we would highlight a few of our favourite activities that you can do now that spring has sprung!

Punting:

One of the more popular activities is to go for a “punt” along the River Cam, which runs through the heart of the city. When you take a punting tour, you’ll get to see famous landmarks like the Bridge of Sighs, the famous backs of university colleges all the while relaxing and floating down the River Cam.

Famous architecture:

Cambridge is home to some of England’s most beautiful churches and chapels. An interesting fact is that St Mary the Great is known as the university church and all distances in Cambridge are measured from its location. We would be remiss if we didn’t implore that you check out King’s College Chapel which is a true masterpiece of English craftsmanship.

Green spaces galore:

Cambridge is very well known for its beautiful green spaces. There are so many different parks and commons that you can choose from and none of them will disappoint on a sunny day. If the sun is indeed shining, a long stroll along the river Cam will leave you relaxed and in awe of this town’s beauty. Be careful to mind the cows!

Cambridge Science Centre:

The interactive science museum provides hands on exhibits, mesmerizing shows and workshops to get young people excited about science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). A perfect way to spend the day indoors, visitors are immersed into activities that will leave adults and children in awe.

Cambridge University Botanic garden

Established in 1846, the garden showcases an impressive collection of over 8,000 species of plants from across the globe. Be sure to spend time wandering through the garden's many glasshouses and trails where you’ll be amazed by the collection and knowledge of those who work at the site.
