Congratulations to our CELTA candidates!

7th March 2017

We want to congratulate our CELTA candidates who finished their course last Friday!

CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is a major teaching training qualification for teaching English as a second or foreign language.  Our CELTA course is one of the many courses in Cambridge which Studio Cambridge offers.  As an English language school in Cambridge, we want to give the opportunity both for students to learn English in the UK and for teachers to learn to teach English in the UK!

The tutors for this group were Tom Hewson, Mel Bubenicek, and Dermot O'Sullivan and they really enjoyed training this group of candidates. The CELTA course is very intense but all the candidates were well-organised and managed the pressure well.

Tom, Mel and Dermot have all taught at Studio Cambridge for many years and enjoy passing on their techniques and experience to budding teachers. Tom is very interested in encouraging Learner Autonomy – i.e. that students shape their own learning, Mel is an expert on teaching pronunciation and Dermot’s particular focus is on teaching vocabulary.

We are very happy that ALL the trainee teachers passed the course and we wish them well in their future teaching careers in teaching English in the UK and abroad!
