What are your names and where are you from?
C: I’m Carolina, from Brazil.
M: My name is Maria, from Greece.

C: Also EFL28.
M: EFL28.

So far, what do you like most about Studio?
C: I really like the activities and variety of classes.
M: The people here are so friendly, the staff and my teachers!

What do you think about the teaching methods that we use?
C: I find the classes very interactive, I like doing exercises with my classmates.
M: I like using computers and CDs for listening, it’s useful and they have these things available.

Has your English improved?
C: Yes, my writing in particular, I found that quite hard
M: I hope so!

What do you think about British people? Are they different from people in your country?
C: People here have lots of patience and are happy to help.
M: British people are very polite, I like that a lot!

What is your favourite thing about Cambridge?
C: King’s college is so beautiful, I love it! There is lots of history here.
M: There are lots of parks and green places, it’s very peaceful. I like to go to the river.

How is Cambridge similar/different to your city?
C: Cambridge is very old, and the history is here is very European which is of course different to in Brazil.
M: I’m used to a very large busy city, Cambridge is smaller and quieter.

What do you think the advantages of living in a Homestay are?
C: Yes, I agree. I spend lots of time talking to my hosts and I feel like I am a part of their family.
M: It’s good to practice with a real British family and learn about the culture from them.

What do you talk about or do with your Host (family)/housemates?
C: I tell them about my day, they tell me about their jobs and UK life.
M: They ask me about Greece and my job at home.

What are the differences between life in the UK family and at home?
C: I think British families are maybe a bit smaller, but mostly the same!
M: Not very different!

What sort of food do you eat in Cambridge? Is that what you expected to eat?
C: I love fish and chips, it’s my favourite!
M: A lot of the same things are here, like Subway or KFC. The British food is what I expected.

How does the food here compare to food in your country?
C: There are lots more potatoes in the diet here, but I like them so it’s okay.
M: I miss the food in Greece…

How do you travel around Cambridge and why?
C: I use the bus; it’s very easy with a Megarider.
M: I walk; my house is close to school.
