Studio Cambridge is delighted to announce that we are now an official supporter of Street Child United, the charity behind the Street Child World Cup: http://streetchildworldcup.org/
Street Child United provides a global platform for street children to be heard, so that they receive the protection, support and opportunities that all children are entitled to. Using the power of sport and the arts, Street Child United challenges the negative perceptions and treatment of street children, transforming lives across the world.
The charity founded the Street Child World Cup in Durban, South Africa, in 2010, which helped end the illegal ‘rounding up’ of street children ahead of the FIFA World Cup. The success of Street Child World Cup proved that this was more than a game and was followed by a second successful tournament. In April 2014, 230 former street children, girls and boys, united across 19 countries in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil standing together for the rights of street children, and the message from the street champions who took part was clear: I am Somebody.
Studio Cambridge has offered bursaries for eight children who took part in the Street Child World Cup, to help them become “Ambassadors” for street children around the world. These young people have experienced life on the streets and with support they are now reintegrating back into society.
The eight young people will study in Cambridge for 10 weeks during the summer of 2015, enabling them to improve their English language skills and continue in their personal development as ambassadors for street children’s rights.
We are incredibly proud to support Street Child United and offer these bursaries to the young charity ambassadors.
Street Child United is holding a fun filled champagne tasting event fundraising towards the cost of flights, transport, food and help throughout this unique project. Tickets are £40 each - email email@example.com
