Top 5 moments of the year!
In all honesty, it actually took us a minute to realize just how satisfying this calendar year was for all of us at Studio Cambridge. There were so many individually great moments that the thought of taking a step back and assessing the year never crossed our minds until now.
2017 was a great year full of moments that made us smile from ear to ear and laugh till we could not laugh anymore. We thought we would share with you some of our 2017 highlights.
Awards from UED
We were and continue to be so proud that we won the award for best Summer School UK category for the 3rd time in 5 years at the UED Agency Awards. The picture below shows our Operations Director, Richard Mountford, collecting the award from Turkish agents in Istanbul in November. Upon receiving the award, he said “It is a great honour to be recognised by the agents in Turkey as the best provider of summer schools in the UK. In many ways, the agents are the people who know the business best of all. They are close partners who work together with us to provide the best experience possible for our students.”
An amazing summer camp season
This year gave us pause to think about the amount of work that was put in by all of us to have one of the best years on record for our school. Over the summer, we welcomed thousands of students from all over the world. They represented over 65 different nationalities which allowed our students (and us) to have an unparalleled cultural experience. Thank you to everyone who worked with us to make this happen!
When students return for a visit
In 2017, we saw an influx of students who had graduated long ago pay visits to us with their families in tow. Piotr, now a teacher himself came back to do the EFL-28 course. He says of the course and his time here “the course was an unforgettable experience again! Not only did I learn a lot but also had an excellent opportunity to see different methods and techniques used by Studio teachers”. We had visits from former pupils who hailed from Italy, China and Japan, who all spoke of their time here at Studio as one of the best times of their lives.
Krantikari girls in Cambridge
We were so proud to welcome the Krantikari girls over the summer in Cambridge. The girls performed Laal Batti (“Red Light”) Express a one-of-a-kind production about their lives as young women from Mumbai’s infamous red-light area. The production has enabled the girls to transcend their trauma and move towards collective healing. We were humbled by their courage and their efforts to shed light on such an important issue.
Another year working with this crew
Last but not least, the Studio Cambridge team! This team works together cohesively and diligently throughout the year, and in the midst of it all also find time for laughs and friendships.
