In July, our student services team interviewed Antony and Yagmur about their stay at Studio Cambridge. What are your names and where are you from? Y: My name is Yagmur and I am from Istanbul, Turkey. A: My name is Antony and I am from Switzerland Which course are you doing? Y: I am on the IELTS course A: I am on the FCE course. So far, what do you like most about Studio? Y: I like that there is also the opportunity to join in on afternoon and evening activities after lessons. A: I like that I have met friends from all over the world. What do you think about the teaching methods that we use? Y: I like that we are taught English through practical activities and multi-media techniques. A: I think it is good that teachers use different teaching methods to keep learning English more interesting. Has your English improved? Y: Yes, it has a great deal. A: Yes, I have come a long way. What do you think about British people? Are they different from people in your country? Y: They can be quite distant but I think are more polite than Turkish people. A: They are friendly people and also very helpful. What do you think of the activities we have to offer? Which ones are your favourites? Y: I really like the variety – my favourites include bowling and movie and pizza night! A: I enjoy the evening activities, such as the pool competition. What is your favourite thing about Cambridge? (and favourite place to go) Y: I like the punting on the river and La Raza where I can socialise with my friends. A: I like that the city is easily accessible and has a good variety of things I can go at the weekend. I especially like dining with friends and the gym. How is Cambridge similar/different to your city? Y: Completely different – Cambridge is smaller but safer than my city. A: It is very similar to Geneva in Switzerland, quaint and relaxed. What do you think the advantages of living in a Homestay/Residence are? Y: Living in a homestay is more comfortable than living in a residence because the dinner and breakfast are all ready for you to eat. A: The advantages are that I get to speak with an English family and get exposure to another culture. How do you travel around Cambridge and why? Y: Usually by bus but if I am going outside of Cambridge I think the train is very quick. A: I like to travel by bus because it convenient for me. Thanks Yagmur and Antony!
